Libra season creativity from Hanane Lazaar

Updated: Oct 11, 2020

As we breeze our way into the air season of Libra (September 23 - October 22) it’s time to make room for our inner creativity. Libra is about love, balance, harmony, creativity, art and communication. So there’s no better time to embrace your inner artist than right now.

Movement is therapy, expression and an art form. That’s why we teamed up with Moroccan artist Hanane Lazaar to bring you her own yoga mat creation ‘Lotus Ankle’. She’s also shared with us a creativity inspiring playlist and shared with us some of her wisdom. So turn it up, roll out your mat and get your flow on…

My first memory of yoga is…

I started practicing yoga, eventually, because, growing up, my father would talk about it all the time. I started practicing yoga because I was taught the importance of discipline in one's life. I started practicing yoga because I wanted to be a successful businesswoman.

My first memory of yoga would be meditating where we used to live in a beautiful village when I was 8 years old, and my father reading a yoga book in Arabic for us and showing us the postures and their names. I found the names cute!

Music makes me want to…

Pray and create.

My to-go-to song to move to is…

I can't pick just one so if I was forced to choose just one, I would choose to move to nothing but the sound of my own breathing

If I had to pick two words to describe my artwork they would be…

Therapy and Life

My movement inspiration comes from…

Nature and daily life scenarios.

Yoga has helped me…

To stay focused.

My favourite yoga posture is

Child's pose because it is very similar to when we prostrate during our prayers, and for me, that is the most relaxing and feel-good, on many levels, position.

The one piece of advice I would give to a new yoga student is…

Build a habit of asking when you don't understand something, in and outside of your yoga class.
